I love the written word. I love to read it, I love to write it. But for me, poetry is possibly the most challenging of words to read, and the most challenging to write.
To tell you the truth, I actually used to hate poetry.
For that precise reason, I challenged myself to take classes; to force myself to read and write verse. And although I still struggle, poetry has opened up a new realm of beauty in the way I set down my life on paper.
I sometimes find that an emotion or moment is too poignant to capture in a story. And it's in those moments that I allow poetry to take over and write for me.
